The less you respond to negative people, the more peaceful your life will become.
Negativity will absolutely consume your life. You will always encounter people who will consciously or subconsciously bring you down. It is always hard to not fight fire with fire, but it really serves no purpose.
In life you will encounter unhappy people. Some may know they are unhappy, and some may just be subconsciously unhappy. Unhappy people just don’t know how to be happy. They are negative without even realizing it. Instead of fighting these people and hating these people, feel bad for them. They carry around so much weight, hate, and anger. You don’t need this extra garbage in your life.
When I say cut things, people like this out of your life.. I use this term loosely. Cutting people out of your life is a very drastic measure. Make sure it’s the right one. If they are toxic, if they are abusive, if they bring you to a place of darkness than yes it might be time to cute them out of your life.
The news, it’s always good to be informed but it was one of my greatest decisions to cut the news away from my life. Brandon and I don’t have cable, or satellite. We have netflix and movies. This hasn’t only helped with some of my anxiety, this has helped cut out the heaviness of the world. Now I am not saying bury your head in the sand get informed about important topics.
When I was looking to cut negativity I kept a journal of how things were making me feel. I would watch a movie if I felt happy, upbeat, or informed I would keep it. If it made me feel like crap, or depressed I would cut it out. Life is way too short for things that bring you down. Pay attention to things and how they make you feel.
Now that you have found things to cut out find things to replace them with. I replaced the news and depressing movies with my blog, writing and playing with my daughter. I found new hobbies and things to do with my time. It really has brought so much happiness into my life.
What things have you done to cut negativity out of your life?
