It is said that scents link us directly to memories. I truly believe this. When Aria was a baby we had a lavender scent in her nursery. Every time I smell that particular scent it takes me back to all the times in our first home, going into her nursery to nurse her, play with her, or read to her. It is such a special memory I love reliving every time I smell Lavender.
We recently moved into a new house. It’s time for new memories to be made. My living room already holds a special memory. When the house was being built I was struggling with it feeling like home. We did a final walk through and I stared at this room and got the overwhelming sense of home. This is the room we will watch Aria grow up in. I will wait up for her to come home from dates and dances in this room. Thinking about it tears me up.
I wanted a soft soothing scent to compliment this room I love to relax in. N°3 Free Coconut Beach Woods from The NEW Atmosphere Collection™ Fine Home Fragrance by Glade® is the perfect scent to pair with my living area. N°3 Free™ Coconut Beach Woods is such an inviting scent that fits the relaxing and chic theme for the room. This collection was carefully curated by world renown fragrance designer Ann Gottlieb. The layered ingredients at artisanal scents trump any specialty store branded scents. I love that Glade® offers their collection at stores I already shop for my groceries at.
How to create a room with flow:
-Start with a mood board: Start off with picking a color palette. Go with colors that make the room relaxing and inviting. Blue, yellow, gray and white is one of my favorite color pallets. Going with that will help the home reflect my personality. I then started looking for inspiration. Add furniture or quotes to the mood board that fit your palette. Having this mood board on your phone will make it easy to refer to while shopping.
-Curtains can be tricky. Measure the windows. The design rule is to go high and wide when it comes to drapery. Longer panels give the room height and really open a room up. I used curtains that measured at 109″, and I love how they barely graze the floor. It really catches the eye and opens the room up. Since these windows are large and in a unique grouping we had to add two rods together. This helps keeps a positive flow in the room.
-When designing a room look to keep things simple and elegant. This refinished dresser acts as a perfect accent piece to the room. Dressing this, and styling this, keep it simple. I added this beach wood planter box. This is where we hide our remotes.
– Add splashes of colors and mix up the textures a bit. I love mixing texture and layering items much like the layered scents of the Glade® N°3 Free™ Coconut Beach Woods Candle. The mix of the wood dresser and the marble side table adds a chic look to the room. If you add all wood elements to the room, it can make the room feel uncomfortable.Adding all marble elements the room can feel cold and stoic.
Dress The Walls
-Dress the walls. You can do a gallery wall, you can add a simple quote, but make sure it is your personality. I wanted an adorable gallery wall. It fit our room so well and I love how it looks. When creating a gallery wall find all the pieces and lay them out on the floor. You can even trace them onto craft paper and add them to the wall to rearrange them as you want.
