Home for the Holidays

Good Morning,

Holidays are around the corner. That means family and house guests will be arriving, and it’s time to get your house in shape.

As a mom on a budget I have some amazing tips on getting your home holiday ready for guests on a budget. They are simple, you can do it all during a nap, or play time.

Spruce up

Sheets and bed kits are one of the easiest way to freshen up a room. Just one trip to Shopko and you have added a homey comforter and pillows. The room just lightens up with new, fresh bedding. Your guests will feel like they are right at home.

Shopko has released their own A&I brand. They have so many affordable pieces that are budget friendly without looking cheap. This bed kit came with a comforter, shams and pillows. If you hate shopping for bedding, hunting for matching pillows, and cases, look for kits such as this. Bed kits do all of the work for you, especially during the holiday rush.

Look at the difference already with just adding new bedding!

The next way to clean up a guest room is to get your DIY on. Make some holiday decor for the side tables. This just adds a welcoming touch to your guests room. Don’t clutter the tables, but just give them a nice holiday touch.

I love printables they are an easy way to decorate on a budget. I have added a few below that I love to decorate with. Find some cute inexpensive frames and you are good to go. You can even up-cycle old frames by painting them to match.

Clean Up

Now that you have everything ready to set up, now clean.

Guests like a clean place to rest at night. It is really uncomfortable to stay somewhere that is covered in dust and dirt. Steer away from clutter and replace sheets that have any rips or stains.

Dust your blinds and tables. Disinfect light switches and remotes. Make sure to vacuum the room, pick things up off the floor and I like to make vacuum just shows you have cared for the room and it just feels cleaner.

A candle or wax melter will also freshen up the room. Scents like Balsam and Ceder, or Santa’s Treats are some of my favorites for the holiday season.

Set Up

Now that everything is purchased, made, and cleaned. It is time to set up. Put your freshly washed bedding on the bed, and fluff the pillows. Set up your DIY decor (or store bought if your not a crafty person).

I like to include a basket of things they might need next to the bed. It would include a water bottle, notepad and some lotion. Include the wifi log in info as well as some snacks.
