When you have guests coming over getting your house in order can be stressful. I wanted to organize the linen closet for my guests making it easier for them to find their towels and extra blankets.
You have seen me decorate, clean and organize the guest room (here), now let’s tackle the linen closet.
Start off by washing everything your guests will need. I like to wash a color coordinated group of towels, hand towels and washcloths. This way you can keep everything together and coordinated. That way the guest towels don’t get mixed in with our everyday towels. It keeps the guest towels clean and crisp for visitors.
I pull everything out of the closet. I throw out everything that has holes, rips, or stains.
Fold everything nice and tidy. This helps maintain space and keep things from tipping over on each other. I wrap my sheets together with the pillow cases. It keeps every sheet set together in an orderly manner.
Towels are all together on one shelf, you have towels in one basket and hand towels in another. I put wash clothes and makeup removing towels in these clear bins I picked up from Shopko. I grabbed these baskets from Shopko during the same trip, they have a huge variety of home decor and organization items.
There are so many ways on pinterest that will help you learn how to fold items, like sheets, in a way that takes up little space and keeps everything together. I like these ways (here, here and here).
I threw away a few sets of sheets so while I picked up these baskets and bins from Shopko I was able to find these amazing sheets from newly rebranded Northcrest.
Now that you have everything clean and organized you can enjoy having your guests over for the holidays. Preparing yourself in advance not only eases the stress of having guests, it helps you relax to enjoy them!
How do you like to prepare for holiday guests? Are you a planner or do you wait until last minute.
