I was provided with products from Save on Crafts and Quick Candles all opinions are my own.
Good Morning Ladies,
I love throwing parties, I actually live for entertaining. Parties are so fun to plan, set up and cook for. I have thrown well over 10 parties the past few years. For some weird reason, I like the stress of planning a get-together.
When we moved into our new house I had no idea where I was going to put all my entertaining decor. I wanted it close to the kitchen because that is where the parties are, but I wanted it all hidden from view. As I went unpacking dishes and stuff and I came across a huge cabinet in my island I had no idea existed. This cabinet is huge, I just thought the island had a bunch of wasted storage space so imagine my excitement when I discovered storage space.
How to get started:
Pull everything out, EVERYTHING!
Arrange it all in a way that makes sense to you and your organized chaos kind of way. I organized mine by the holiday. Then, I put banners together, ribbons together, and miscellaneous items together.
I had some leftover bins from Organizing my pantry {post here} that I would put all the loose things in.
Since you are working with a wide and verticle space stacking things will be your friend in this space. Rotate them as you use them so the next recent holiday will be up on top ready to go for when you need it.
What your party cabinet should include:
If you like to entertain and your not sure how to have a kit handy let me be of some assistance. I am a girl on a budget so I purchase things to use over and over again. You get a lot out of these items and they can be used for a variety of different parties. Build this collection in stages. I have been collecting for years.
- Vines
- Garland
- China
- Cute milk bottle Glasses
- Table Runners
- Chargers {plates not phones} I like using tree slices.
- Pitchers/Water Dispensers
- Place Settings {paper disposables, Linen Napkins, Napkin Rings}
- Hanging Decor
- Reusable Banner
- Serving Pieces { cake stands, crates, bins, buckets, bowls, nesting trays, candy dishes etc.}
- Chalkboard decor { food labels, quotes, game instructions }
The good thing about all of these items that you have in your kit, you can also use them as your everyday decor pieces. That will get every penny out of what you include in your kit. Buy a couple pieces at a time, or buy in bulk. Save on Crafts and Quick Candles have the best prices for these items.
Starter Kit
Now I understand not everyone can have all of those items. I broke down my items into the perfect starter kit. Buy your things in pairs. Don’t buy things all at once. This kit will help you through a great party. It’s a simple but chic party that once you have this kit purchase won’t cost you much at all. Some of your kit can even be used as everyday home decor. I love using cake stands on my island to display a plant arrangement or candle.
Your starter kit will include:
- Blackboard (pack of 6)
- Burlap table runner
- Linen Napkins
Best Places to Buy Party Items
I love making things myself. I browse Pinterest for ideas and I make everything I can. My Cricut is used often and I encourage everyone who likes to throw parties to own one! That or a silhouette whatever cutting device that suits you.
- Save on Crafts
- Quick Candles
- Michael’s
- Hobby Lobby
- Dollar Tree
- Amazon
- Of course Target
By having these items already purchased you can easily throw parties under $50. I do most my parties at about $40 less if people contribute food wise. I usually make the food myself to save money, make the decor yourself and save it for another party. Invest in a laminator to help preserve the banners or signs for future use.
You can see the parties I have thrown using, and reusing items I already have.
{Aria’s Dinosaur Party} {Lost Girls of Neverland Party} {Woodland Baby Shower} {Ice Cream Party}
Printables
To keep yourself Organized I have included some printables to make your party planning easy and stress-free.
I hope this has helped you in your party planning endeavors. What are your hostess essentials? What do you love most about planning a party?
What a great idea! I think your basic starter set suggestion will really work for almost every gathering. I’m envious of your organization system. I think I need to reconsider the way I store my stuff.
you’re so sweet thank you. Organizing can be tricky because it’s different with everyone but I am sure you will figure it out and it will be perfect!
I love throwing parties too! Right now I store all of my stuff in the basement, but it would be so useful to be able to have it near the kitchen.
I have my holiday party stuff in the basement as well I would love to find like space for it closer to the kitchen as well!
