Montessori  Sensory Unit

Good Morning Ladies,

We took a little time off of school. Now we are back at it. This week I was really excited to plan. Aria has been showing interest in different flavors and how to express what flavors are. She wasn’t sure what sour was, just that it tickled.

Hard & Soft Game (Monday)

Teaching your kids textures can be a fun game. I took a bunch of her toys and scattered them. I placed the cards on two sides of the room. This not only is an exercise but its a learning activity.

She would take all the hard toys over to the hard sign, and the soft toys to the soft sign. This is an exercise to teach them sensory, and categorizing skills. Not to mention it helped her learn to pick up her toys.

Mr. Potato Head (Tuesday)

If you have a potato head you won’t need the printable. We do not have one so I made this cute little potato head for Aria. As she places the parts on the potato head we will learn what each piece does. The eyes are for seeing, noses are for smelling etc.

Sweet, Sour, or Savory (Wednesday)

This is another fun game to teach kids tastes. This helped Aria learn what sour really meant and why the sour patch kid she ate made her tongue tickle.

Cut out all the pieces and help you kids place them under the proper categories. Sour foods are hard to find..and explain to toddlers. Aria loves lemons and things they are sweet, tastes are different. So we just have to take it play by play.

Peek a Boo Kidz Video (Thursday)

This channel has so many cute educational videos that are fun for kids to watch. I am a firm believer in minimal screen time. Some screen time but not a lot. Aria learns well from songs and watching a show about the topic. We love this channel and for this unit, this video fits perfectly. { HERE }

Baking (Friday)

Baking not only teaches taste but texture. I helped Aria learn consistencies of the batter. The cake batter should be this thick, and frosting should be this thin. It was a lot of fun, and she is learning baking skills. You can check out the recipe for this cake {HERE}
