Good Morning Ladies,
We love books at our house! Aria loves to read and be read to. Before she was even born she had a million books. My mom and Brandon’s mom both bought and collected tons of books for her. I would buy a few books every paycheck as well, so by the time she was born, we had a pretty extensive library for her.
I read to her while she was in my belly, and every time I would put her down for a nap or for bed I would read to her. It helped calm us both down. She has had a love for books from an early age. I love the bonding time it provides for us. You can read all about the benefits of reading to your kids {HERE}.
Let’s Get Started!
Creepy Carrots:
Aria has this book memorized. We have read this book at least once a day since she got it for Christmas last year. It is such a fun and cute book. Jasper Rabbit has a passion for carrots, but they don’t appreciate the passion. So they play some tricks on Jasper.
This book also helped us get Aria to eat carrots. We would carve little faces into the carrots and she would eat them up.
First 100 Words:
This book was one of Aria’s favorites when she was a baby. She loved pointing to the animals and making the noises. I encourage getting this book in multiple languages is you plan on raising them to speak different languages. This is a great starter book.
The Pout-Pout Fish:
This is another book that Aria made us read multiple times a day. I like that it teaches in a very subtle way that even when things seem bad there is a way we can turn our frown upside down and change our outlook on the day.
Max The Brave:
This book is absolutely adorable. It’s about a cat named Max, he is looking for a mouse but doesn’t know what a mouse looks like. He runs into a little trouble when he meets a mouse and he deceives him into thinking that a mouse is actually, well I won’t spoil it for you.
Go Dog, Go!
This is a classic we all had as kids. It is fun passing on books I read at Aria’s age to her. Go Dog, Go! is such a cute and fun book to teach kids colors, opposites, direction etc. This book is helping Aria learn to read the word dog because it repeats over and over again.
The Cat in the Hat:
This is another classic to pass on to your kids. I love how it teaches imagination. When Aria tells me she is bored we visit the scenario of Cat in the Hat. The two kids are bored on a rainy day so they used their imagination. It is a long book, but I love its nostalgic and awesome for a bedtime story.
Little Blue Truck:
I think every kid has a few different versions of this book. There are holiday versions, just so many fun versions. This book not only teaches patience but kindness. The little blue truck takes his time in helping all the animals along the way. When comes along a big dump truck that is in a huge hurry and pushes everyone out of this way. He then becomes stuck and guess who comes to his aid. I love this book
Oh No, George!
This book was sent to me in a PR package and I fell in love with this author. He has two other books that are cute as well but this book was our favorite. George is a naughty dog that has to practice restraint. Does he? You will have to read and find out.
That’s not my Dinosaur.
I love the “That’s no my” series from Usborne books. We have about 20 different versions of this book. It is great for babies learning textures. Each book has bumpy textures, soft textures etc. If you are looking for baby shower gifts these books are always a hit.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs:
This book is such a fun and cute book. Another imagination enhancer. I read this book as a young kid and it was my all time favorite book. I was browsing a store when Aria was little and found it in a board book. Kids love food and this book is all about food, most of which that include kid favorites like pancakes.
I hope you enjoyed this post! What books are your favorites, any I should add to my list?
