Lately, I have had a lot of time to reflect and think long and hard about where I want to be in life and what I want to be doing.
Not so long ago a family friend passed away from Cancer, and it really brought things into perspective for me. He was way too young and had a whole life to live. That is when I decided to start living my ultimate life.
I was a working mom at the time and things just fell into place for me to leave my job and focus on my family and my blog. The things that make me most happy. I wanted to be home for my daughter, take her on hikes, go to mommy and me parties, enjoy every moment of her childhood. I took that leap of faith in myself. I knew I could make things work for our family so I could be home.
My blog is helping us sustain our living because I work hard on it. I have faith that I can make it grow by continuing to take risks.
I want you all to live your ultimate lives. Life is way too short to be miserable, to be stuck in a dead end job, or to be doing something your not passionate about. So I want to share with you tips and tricks that worked for me.
First, let’s start with YOU! Ways to believe in yourself
-Make a list of things you do well. Don’t be shy you know yourself better than anyone. I am creative I am really good at designing and sketching. I am artistic so I put that down on my list.
-Now implement some of those talents in ways you wouldn’t normally. For an example, I am artistic and witty, and I love vitaminwater. I heard they were having a “Label Me a Winner” contest so I conjured up a label. I am living my life to the fullest so why not make a label around the theme of “Grab life by the Bottles”, or “More flavor, fewer excuses.” Or make something witty like I did for my favorite flavor.
Find your favorite flavor. Honestly, they are all delicious, but I love the vitaminwater zero squeezed lemonade.
Now write something witty, funny, or inspirational! And Voila!
So if you’re creative like I am, enter these types of contests you can even enter the vitaminwater one HERE. Entering contests are so easy to do and really this will help you start that snowball effect of gaining that confidence in yourself. Even if you don’t win you did something, which is better than not doing anything!
-Now that you know your strengths and are implementing them in ways you haven’t before finding the areas you need help in. Say you want to sketch people a little more lifelike. Take a class! There are so many online resources and youtube. Community centers often have free classes or seminars. Perfect something your good at and are passionate about.
-Motivate yourself! This is a great way of continuing that train to success. If you stop the motivation you stop the belief that you can do this.
-Find a mantra. My mantra is live your life today. Go out there and don’t take no for an answer. You are strong, capable and there is always a place for you where you want to be. You may have to fight harder for it than others but happiness and success are always worth that fight.
Now 5 Risks you can take to live that Ultimate Life
-Apply for a job you have always wanted. Chances are you won’t get it but even trying you get to see what you need to do to get there. I once applied for a collaboration for a brand I knew was way out of my league. They said no of course but they gave me feedback on what to do and how to get to that level. Basically, they saw something they liked and even though I wasn’t at a level I needed to be for them they allowed a chance for me by sending me some amazing critiques.
-Post yourself on the internet. Another scary and risky thing. It may be a job application, or a blog, or maybe your first real song. Post it, we all know the internet is brutally honest but between the trolls, there are some people out there that can give some really good advice. They don’t call it a risk if it’s easy. I posted a makeup tutorial on YouTube. Scared me to death, but it got me out there. I got a tough skin and it made me braver.
-Network, go to meetings, seminars, conventions and talk to people. This is one I struggle with because I am a hermit. Networking puts a face on your work. It puts a personality to a page, so get out there and network with people.
-Invest in yourself. Sometimes our hobbies, or dreams cost money. Let me tell you blogging is not cheap. In order to move forward, you have to invest in yourself. Buy equipment, classes, things you need to get to where you want to be. Now don’t go blow all your money at once. Save, and take baby steps. It took me forever to finally invest in a laptop. It was the greatest thing I have ever done for myself and for my blog!
-Last of all the last risk you take is diving all in. If that means quitting your job, or moving out of state do it! You believe in yourself now take that dive. This is by far the hugest risk, it is your livelihood here.
I hope this helped you guys like it helped me. Remember you are worth the investment, so is your happiness.
