Good Morning!
My Fall and Halloween posts are in full swing!
Aria and I are trying our hardest to be more productive during the day. We got in this routine of lounging and watching movies. So last week I made us a schedule and I added baking to our schedule. Aria helps me make a shopping list for ingredients we run to the grocery store and shop for what we need.
We have the Nerdy Nummies cookbook so we thumbed through that and I let her pick a dish to make and of course she picked the brain cake.
Since I was just baking with Aria and this was just for fun, we didn’t make the cake from scratch. If we were going to make this for a party you definitely want to make everything from scratch. It tastes so much richer, trust me.
Supplies you need:
–Red Velvet Cake Mix (homemade is cheaper and tastes better)
–Fondant (homemade is cheaper and tastes better)
Find all the recipes you need for this cake (HERE).
First, start baking the cake. Butter the glass bowl and toss it in the oven at 350 for 45 minutes. Check the batter with a cake tester every oven is different.
While your cake is baking make the fondant.
Roll into a ball, wrap in food-safe saran wrap and set aside.
Now time to make your blood.
Pull your cake out of the oven to cool. After cooled frost the entire cake and start making your brain. Use a picture for reference for the little crevices.
Let set out for 10 minutes.
Now slowly pour the “blood” over the brain until the whole brain is covered.
Voila! You now have a tasty brain to devour!
