Good Morning Friends,
Styling colored pants doesn’t have to be tricky. I know my M.O is to style the hell out of jeans. I love denim and wear them everyday. You are probably pretty sick of how much I wear jeans.
I do sometimes want to switch things up and wear a colored pant. Cotton on has some of the best colored pants. They are extremely stretchy, forgiving and if you have ever had kids you know that is key when styling items around your mom pooch.
A lot of people steer clear from styling colored pants because it bring attention to the lower half of your body. Which isn’t always entirely true. Styling a dark color pant can actually bring the eye to a complimentary top. By pairing a colored pant with a longer tunic top, and duster cardigan you are drawing the eye to the to all the right places.
Covering the Mom Pooch
I fell victim to Diastis Recti after Aria and boy has that put a damper on things. I work out every freaking day and I still suffer the mom pooch. Ladies, sometimes your body just takes longer to recover. You are not alone in that. It is frustrated but you can style around it if it is bothersome to you.
With a colored pant, well any pant for that matter, I steer away from high waisted. You want to cut across problem areas so the eye isn’t drawn directly to it. So I go for a mid rise jean. It cuts across my problem area kind of disguising it. Top top it off I love longer tunic tops. This will help cover the area completely. To keep it from looking like a tent I do like to knot the top to the side. This also draws attention to my waist and not my lower abdomen.
Drawing the Eye outward
When you have a problem mid section a great trick is to grab a cardigan, blazer, duster whatever to draw the eye outward. This also breaks up the lines in your mid section. This is a great styling trick if you are having a day you want to just cover up without wearing loose baggy clothing. The eye is following the lines of the jacket, make sure whichever jacket or blazer you choose that it hits you at a flattering part of the body. If it hits at a wide point it will draw the eye to that part. I usually get a jacket that hits just at the waist or jut below my thigh. Cardigans same thing, or I grab a duster.
These are just some tricks I picked up in my fashion classes in college that I though you all would like to know. When I remember to use these tips they come in handy for styling.
I know we as women all like to pick ourselves apart, you are beautiful the way you are. I want you all to feel confident and beautiful. Because guess what you are beautiful!
