Good Morning Friends!
We are prepping for our first family trip ever. It will be a quick trip but a fun one.
When packing for a trip we always pack in a carry on. Baggage fee’s are pricey and we have had a bad experience in the past on our honeymoon. So to play it safe we pack lightly. Over the past few years I have gotten pretty good about packing smart.
Thank you to iFly for sponsoring this post.
My luggage bit the dust my last trip to California, and Brandons was basically strings after his trip to Canada. Aria has never traveled before so I hit the internet to research luggage. Of course it had to be on a budget but sturdy. I was on Pinterest and iFly kept popping up so I looked up their reviews. The reviews were really good, often getting 5 stars. The luggage was really cute and looked pretty sturdy so at $69 a case I was sold!
Let’s Get Started!
Packing for Dad
Guys are defiantly the easiest to pack for. Honestly a tee shirt, underwear, and shocks would suffice. I want Brandon to have options though and more than just socks and underwear lol.
-Underwear
Always pack an extra pair. So if you are doing a 4 day getaway pack 5 pairs. Do the roll method like pictured below.
-Socks
Same theory applies to socks. One pair per day plus an extra.
-Shirts
Pack at least one nice shirt, a black shirt, grey shirt, white shirt and pajama shirt if needed. This will give you plenty of options.
-Pants
Pack a pair of jeans, black jeans and pajama pants. Make sure to pack swimming trunks if you are around a pool or beach.
-Hygiene
-Often guys are fine with the shampoo/conditioner in the hotel, but if your man requieres a little more you can buy ready to go hygiene kits from Target for like $8-$12
-Things to include: gel, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, floss, disposable razors, comb, brush, deodorant.
-Tech
The flight to California is short but we like to be entertained. Phone, charger, and plenty of downloaded movies and tv shows. Headphones are always a must as well.
That should do it for Dad.

Packing for Mom
Now mom is a little more high maintenance than pretty much anyone. When I pack for myself I pack for how I get ready. Shower, makeup, get dressed, do hair.
-Hygiene
Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, Deodorant, Lotion, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Floss, and for me I have to have hand sanitizer.
-Makeup
I keep makeup simple when I am out of town. Again I pack how I get ready.
Toner, Moisturizer, Concealor, Eye Shadow, Liner, Brow Pomade, Foundation, Bronzer, Blush
-Underwear
I always pack one a day and an extra. Sometimes flights get delayed or cancelled and you want to be prepared for that.
With Bra’s I pack a nude bra, black bra, and a sports bra. You can always survive with a nude bra if you are really limited on space.
-Clothing
I always pack more clothing than anything just for options. I put together my outfits in advanced, take a picture of them on my phone so I remember what I have in my suitcase.
Pack a blouse, a black/white tee, cardigan, a patterned tee, and a sweater.
With pants I wear leggings on the plane, pack a pair of denim jeans, black denim, and a colored pant.
Shoes wear the bulkiest pair to the airport. I will be wearing a comfortable pair of boots so I don’t have to pack them. I will also pack a pair of sneakers, and flats I can dress up or down. Heels are cute but they take up so much space.
-Socks
Same theory as underwear have an extra pair. Make sure if you have low cut sneakers you have low cut socks.
-Hair
Brush, Comb, Hairspray, Curling wand or straightener. I usually take a cheap curling wand that I don’t mind losing. I know my hotel will have a blow dryer so that free’s up some extra space. Make sure your room has a blow dryer to avoid over packing.
I only pack a couple bobby pins and a couple hair ties for night time. Curling my hair I can usually go a day or two without having to wash it and dry it.
-Tech
I will be taking pictures so I need my camera, charger, my phone, charger for that, and my headphones.

Packing for Kids
This is my first time ever packing for Aria so wish me luck and I will probably have to update this post when we get back from our trip because I know I am bound to forget something.
-Hygiene
I will be packing a small amount of tear free shampoo for her if your kids are older you can share your shampoo or just let them use the hotel shampoo, she will use my body wash, but she will need her hair brush, and hair ties, bows and she can use my hair spray. So hygiene can be pretty minimal
-Clothing
I pack her clothing in outfits. Make three outfits that can interchange with the other. Pack 2 pairs of jeans, a pair of leggings, an outfit that can be dressed up and take shoes that can be paired with casual outfits and nicer outfits. Make sure they are wearing a pair of comfortable shoes on the plane. Comfort is key on a plane. Even if it is only an hour you want it to be as easy and stress free as possible.
-Underwear
Pack for emergencies. For mom and dad an extra pair is fine, with kids..I would pack a couple extras. Especially if they are young kids who are mostly potty trained. Since this is a hotel we will be also packing pull ups to protect the mattress just in case of a night accident. So if you are staying for 4 nights, pack 8 pairs of underwear and an extra pull up a night. You can always buy them there so you don’t have to pack them, but that is up to you.
-Socks
Kids are pro’s at losing socks so I will probably be packing more socks than anything for Aria. At least and extra pair, but I will be packing probably 4 extra pairs.
-Pajamas
I am packing 2 warm footie pajamas, and two cotton pajamas. That way if the room is cold you have warm pajamas for them to sleep comfortably in and if its warm you have cooler pairs of pajamas.
I am also packing her teddy bear for comfort.
If there is a pool make sure to pack swim diapers for those not potty trained, and a swimsuit.
-Tech
Most of the tech will be used for the plane considering we will be on the run most of the time we are in California. While in the car we will have her reading or playing I Spy instead of being on a device. So for kids I suggest iPad, charger, headphones, books, travel sized toys, and lots of patience…you will need it.
-Car Seat
Oh I am so excited for this one…not! Traveling with the car seat. I really want to get this car seat soon. But for now our car seat now and a travel bag will have to do. I highly recommend getting a car seat bag to protect your car seat.
