Good Morning Friends!
Tis’ the season for snow, sledding, and cold red noses. When I first when shopping for snow gear, I had no idea what to expect. Lucky for me there was a cute snow set at Costco for $25. I got a solid two year out of that snow suit, but unfortunately kids grow out of things and Aria is finally getting to the point where her snow gear is getting snug. So I went on the hunt for a coat and snow bibs.
Now Aria dressed herself today, no she isn’t completely matching but I think its cute when she wants to mix and match her outfit details. The key to snow gear is warmth. You can make your child snow gear all match, or you can just find what you can afford and just have a warm happy child because let’s face it..most of them just want to build a snowman and sled down a hill.
My target price was $25 for a sturdy and warm coat. When I set a target price I hope to go under but if I find something like $4-5 over it still fits in my budget. I found a coat similar to this one at Sam’s Club for $27.99 and I got a size up so it will fit her longer. I know it will be big on her to start with but I am that mom that wants to milk items for all they are worth and get as much usage out of them as possible.
I love Osh Kosh snow bibs. They are heavy duty and warm, but find them on sale. I know Target has Cat & Jack ones for $17 that are also great for the snow. Try to find snow pants and coats in a set, but if your price point doesn’t allow that there are some really affordable snow pants out there.
Sets are the way to go because they match, and most of the time it is a better price. Not all the time but most. Costco and Sams Club often have sets from Osh Kosh or Carters on sale and those are always significantly discounted. They are often 2T-5T but sometimes I have seen options for bigger sizes. Like I said my favorite snow bibs come from Osh Kosh, but they are the only ones I have ever tried so always check reviews.
Sears had an awesome deal on snow boots when we bought some for Aria two years ago. They still fit her now but I have a feeling this is our last year with them. Sears in our area have all gone out of business so I am looking at Kohl’s for her next pair.
It’s amazing how much warmer you stay, and your kids stay with their ears covered. I didn’t think this to be true until I was out shooting pictures for a family in 30 degree weather. It was cold out but I actually stayed pretty warm. After getting a set for Aria I noticed she could be outside longer and stay warmer with hers on.
