Good Morning Friends,
From day one I was always a feminine tomboy. I loved makeup, and frilly things, but also found a love for sports.
I remember at a young age my dad took me to a football game. At the ripe age of 5 I fell in love with the crowd and the electricity you feel when the team makes a touchdown. It was a glorious moment when my love for football was born. I watch college ball religiously and it 100 percent ruins my night when my team loses. It’s awful.
On the flip side, I have always loved shopping and putting together outfits. My mom worked as a magazine merchandiser and would bring me home old issues of Vogue, or whatever fashion magazine she could find for me. We would cut out different pieces of clothing and piece together outfits. I would also always be sketching outfits and textiles. Fashion was an obsession for me.
Then, I started playing sports instead of just watching it. My parents got me into softball, basketball, and I played volleyball despite my height. I loved playing sports and got really competitive, for a while I fouled out of almost every game.
After a while, I started getting into hair and makeup. It became an obsession. Lucky for me my mom was a beautician and was able to aid that addiction. I remember getting my first hair crimper and three-barrel curling iron and going crazy with the hairstyling. I would sit in the locker room helping girls getting ready for dances it was one of my favorite memories of middle school and high school.
Sometimes girls feel like they have to be overly feminine or this way and that way. Be what you want to be. You don’t have to fit into any box. If you want to be a tomboy be a tomboy, if you want to be a girly girl be a girly girl, be both, be neither. Life is way too short to be slapped under a label. Have fun enjoy whatever role you choose.
P.S. Let’s talk about how cute these really cute shorts. They remind me of a really cute, feminine pair of basketball shorts. I love that it brings a touch of masculinity with the cut but a whole lot of femininity with the fabric and print. Go to My Sisters Closet and grab yourself a pair! Use code NIGHTCHAYDE for 10% off making these shorts just under $22!
